Design Engineers has completed many projects at convents and monasteries in two states. We take time to implement an institutional quality building while at the same time giving it a residential feel because it’s your home. Our religious community clients appreciate the project on a deeper level because we make things better for both their workplace and their home.

Sisters of Saint Benedict Monastery
Rock Island, Illinois

This project included the design of a large geothermal heat pump system.
To heat and cool the 65,000-square-foot building, Design Engineers used
piping at the bottom of a 12-foot deep, 4-acre pond to extract heat from the pond in the winter and put it back in the summer.

Sacred Heart Convent
Springfield, Illinois

We were part of a six-building renovation and a three-story building addition to the Sacred Heart campus. Without the luxury of shutting down the entire convent, the project was phased to allow the residents to remain on site during the 2 ½ year construction period. The completed facility included dormitories, food service facilities, a swimming pool, offices, chapel and meeting rooms.
